CBI arrests IRS officer in Rs 40 lakh bribe case; court calls arrest illegal

The CBI arrested an IRS officer, a CGST superintendent and a private person in an alleged Rs 40 lakh bribery case involving a Rs 1.5 crore demand. However, the Thane Special Court held their arrests illegal, rejected further custodial interrogation and ordered their release on bonds, directing them to cooperate with the ongoing probe.
