In APL Photonics, researchers have redefined skin hydration monitoring and diagnosis of atopic dermatitis using infrared imaging. The researchers created an optical hydration index that serves as a digital biomarker, combining multiple inputs and measurements to gain a more comprehensive picture of the state of the skin.
